Karnataka Higher Education Minister VS Acharya no more

Banagalore:Higher education Minister of Karnataka, Senior BJP leader Dr. VS Acharya passed away today. He collapsed from dais following a heart attack during a programme in Bangalore, and then admitted to Mallige hospital.

He was elected as a municipal councillor, then as president in Udupi municipal council in 1968. This was the first ever win of elected body in South India by the Jan Sangh. He was one of the first MLA of Karnataka and was responsible for entry of Jan Sangh in Karnataka Assembly.

He was in jail with LK Advani during the emergency.
